MAUD
(A JUSTICE SONG)

By Kaitlyn Blake

Slain

Wept

Ripped apart

Hearts raw from the tears we keep in

The facades we keep up, trying to be strong for our black brothers and sisters

It’s like they think they’re doing us a favor, it’s like they think because we’re black we belong on the street

How far will it go?

My heart is rubbed raw

I have no more feelings to show

Just anger

Only anger comes through

That’s the only feeling that people seem to understand now, it’s true

Justice has died

Will it rise again?

Expect the worst, work for the best

We’ve been doing that, how far have we come?

It seems we’re going backwards

Nothing makes sense anymore

Except Justice for Maud
